Day 3 – Temples and sunset!
|
Our breakfast by the pool at our hotel in Ubub. |
It was an early start today. After checking out from our
hotel, we started our 45 minutes journey to Taman Ayun Temple (Megwi Water Temple). Taman Ayun Temple is one of the most attractive temples of Bali. It
is situated in a beautiful park near Mengwi in the south of Bali. This temple
was built in 1634 by the King of Mengwi as his family temple. It opens daily from 0800H till 1800H. Entrance fee: Rp15,000/per pax.

For lunch, we had tofu. We went
to this restaurant called Café Tahu which
served pretty much everything made from soybean. Highly recommendable. Location:
Jl. Denpasar-Bedugul Km.37, Bedugul, Bali. Tel: +62 361 7459953.

Our next stop was Bratan Lake Temple or the local called it Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. This temple is
located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul. Lake Bratan
is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to the fertility of this area.
Located 1,200 m above sea level, it has a cold tropical climate. My take on Bratan Lake Temple: This is a must-visit place whenever you are in Bali. The view is just breathtaking. Entrance fee: Rp30,000/per pax.

Next, Bobby brought us for tea at Warung Kopi Bukit Hexon located at Jln.Raya Wanagiri (Munduk),
Singaraja, Bali. We had banana fritters served with cheese and also great freshly brewed Balinese coffee. The view: MARVELOUS! Total spend was Rp66,000. It was a bit costly but
the view was worth it!

To end our last evening in Bali, we headed off to the famous
Tanah Lot. Tanah Lot is home to the pilgrimage temple Pura Tanah Lot (literally "Tanah Lot temple"). Entrance
fee: Rp30,000/per pax. Tips: The best time to visit Tanah Lot is in the evening where you can enjoy a
spectacular sunset. This place is very touristy, please be aware of pickpockets. We
were all captivated and mesmerized with the view. Although we did not visit the
temple (too many tourists and we were tired), we were all grateful just being
there, taking in the stunning view.

At around 1900H, we headed off to Kuta. Before checking in to our hotel, we decided to have a great Chinese halal dinner at Warung
Pak Hadi – Chinese and Seafood located at Jl. Patih Jelantik 100, Kuta, Bali.
Tel: +62361767735. Total spend for this dinner for 4 pax was only Rp151,000. After
the scrumptious dinner, we checked in at Hotel Bounty Kuta. Our room rate was Rp 1,148,400/per night. Initially, we wanted to just enjoy our last night at this hotel but
we were a bit disappointed as it turned out to be like a mini Ibiza during
summer. Reason to that is because there were so many holiday goers by the pool
shouting and getting drunk. Getting near that pool was a turnoff. Besides
that, we were all exhausted and I was down with a fever! Boo me!

The mini Ibiza by the pool. Too loud and too many drunks party goer! A big turned off! |
Day 4 – Krisna and Goodbye Bali!
I was still down with a slight fever but we’ve managed to
check out sharp at 0900H after our continental buffet breakfast. For our last excursion, Bobby brought us to
Krishna. Krishna is a souvenir shop that sells Bali’s souvenir at a fixed price
for a very reasonable rate. I personally think this is the best place to shop
before getting on your flight. They provide wrapping services for only Rp5000/per box. Krishna
is located at Jalan Pandu No.34A, Denpasar Tim., Bali. Tel: +62 361 8700601.
After Krishna, we headed to Kuta Beach for a final shopping bargain before
posing for the last time with our tour guide Bobby.
